Management Buy In

Willie Gray, Managing Director of William Gray Construction, is transferring his shares in the company to his fellow shareholders in the business. The transfer is part of a management buy-in to ensure the long term future of the business.

But Willie Gray will continue to play a major role as Chairman in the business, as he explained: “As many people know, I had a stroke last year and, while I have made a good recovery, it was a bit of a wake up call. It made me realise I have a huge responsibility to more than 100 staff to provide business continuity.

“I will still be very much involved in the running of the business and will also continue to grow our property development company, Ark Estates, in parallel with the construction company. We’ve a great team here who have made the company the success that it is and they are the right people to take the company forward.”

Dougal Murray will take on the role of Managing Director and Pauline Fox will continue as Finance Director. Robbie Bruce will become Technical Director and there will be a number of other changes as part of an internal restructuring.

William Gray Construction was established in 2001 and has grown to become one of the largest locally based building firms in Highland. The company has been involved in work to regenerate Inverness city centre and is currently working on the Raining’s Stairs project opposite Inverness Castle. They recently completed the Travelodge on Academy Street and are working on the Parks Jaguar showroom in Inverness. They also have a number of housing projects on the Black Isle and Kiltarlity.
